Top auctioneers to compete in Adelaide

The finest of auctioneers at Ray White SA/NT are polishing their gavels ahead of an annual Auctioneer of the Year competition which will see part of Port Adelaide Football Club go under the hammer.

Now in its fourth year, auctioneers from both SA and NT will compete at The Port Club on Thursday, July 5 for the title of Ray White SA/NT Auctioneer of the Year in both senior and novice categories.

Held in partnership with Port Adelaide, the brief to the auctioneers is to call the mock sale of a section of the iconic Allan Scott Power HQ building.

The 1030sq m first-floor space comes with council approval to be developed into six luxury apartments offering sweeping views across the historic Alberton Oval.

“We are really excited to be able to auction off the Port Adelaide HQ for this year’s Ray White SA/NT Auctioneer of the Year competition,” Ray White SA & NT chief executive officer Matt Lindblom said.

“Auctions are part of our DNA and for the month of May, Ray White held top market share of not only new listings but also new auction listings to the market.

“Adelaide has a reasonable auction culture where out of 3024 new listings in May, 549 were listed for auction.”

A total of seven competing auctioneers will be judged by a panel of industry experts including Ray White Sydney Blue CEO Jason Andrew, Richard Kelly from Port Adelaide, Loan Market CEO Steve Pettit, and Rachel Dodding from Eckermann Conveyancing.

“Our goal with our auction competition is to continue to produce highly skilled auctioneers for our network,” Mr Lindblom said.

“This year will be no exception as I think we will see four new auctioneers who will be ready to call more auctions for our network in the 2018/19 financial year.”

General public and media are welcome to watch the battle, with lunch and post-competition drinks provided. Register for free entry here.
