Stage 2 Glendower Dam land sells for almost $8m

FIVE Queensland properties, once earmarked for the former Glendowner Dam project around Beaudesert and Tabragalba, have sold at auction for almost $8 million.

More than 200 people attended the Stage 2 Glendowner Dam Project auction event in Beaudesert last night, where 40 registered bidders vied to buy five properties offered by the Queensland Government.

The total sale price achieved under the hammer was $7,995,000.

“It was one of the best auctions I’ve been at,” Ray White Rural Queensland’s Peter Douglas said.

“We sold everything under the hammer and didn’t pause for anything. It was good strong competition between buyers from Brisbane, Gold Coast, locally and country areas of Queensland.”

Auctioneer Phil Parker was kept busy, dropping his hammer on a variety of property including two blocks of vacant 50ha land, a house on a 4046sq m block, and two substantial farms with frontage to the Albert River with irrigation licences, houses and sheds.

Mr Douglas said the farms, both ex-diary properties, sold for $3,530,000 and $2,920,000.

The two blocks of 80ha vacant land sold for $600,000 and $650,000, with the final offering of the house selling for $295,000.

All properties are around 60kms from the Gold Coast and 70kms from Brisbane.

“The first stage saw the completed disposal sale of six properties at auction in June,” Mr Douglas said.

“Together with Ed Dalton and Andrew Thomson of Ray White Rural Beaudesert, we will offer Stage 3 shortly which will consist of more outstanding grazing and farming country and lifestyle blocks.”
