I worked in retail, IT recruitment and then I moved through to sales and with corporations like Telecom and IBM. They provided me with extensive training and professional context. The training I got has prepared me well for working in residential property sales and is one of the reasons why we're so successful.
Steve and I were overseas and came back to New Zealand in 2006. We spent a while working out what we wanted to do work-wise but we always knew we wanted to work together. We started with Harcourts, learning the real estate agent trade in January 2011.
I was inspired to choose a career in real estate because, contrary to popular belief, you have to find the product first and then the person who wants to buy it. My skills lie in looking outside the box and matching each house to the right buyer.
They're matched by mutual personality and it takes a keen eye to connect the two. This is one of the many reasons I deliver great prices for vendors, because the right buyer falls in love with the right house.
I’ve always had an interest in property as an investor and home owner. The way I look at real estate helps set us apart from the masses because it’s a people business first and foremost. The houses are actually a by-product. The bits I love the most are when buyers just love the house they bought. We get so excited with them at their delight when they settle the transaction and take possession.
And from the vendor's point of view I enjoy being part of the process that enables them to move on in their lives - we love to help vendors do this.

Kay and I recently embarked upon the process of selling our home in Auckland. While we have bought and sold homes throughout our lives we had never sold by auction before, and never in such a dynamic and unpredictable market as Auckland.
