Life at the top: Helen Yan’s first months at Ray White Balwyn

She’s one of the best performing females in Australian real estate, and since joining Ray White in August last year, Helen Yan’s business in Balwyn has gone from strength to strength as she works towards achieving the highest accolade in the Group.

Joining Ray White was a huge decision for Helen – it’s a brand that had never been in the Balwyn market. With the strength of her relationships, Helen not only transitioned brands successfully, she brought many clients with her.
“My vendors and buyers are all very happy, they supported the move because they trusted in me, and I am very grateful for that,” Helen explained.
Now, Helen is seeing even more customers coming to her as word spreads of the success of Ray White Balwyn. After just nine months with Ray White, Helen is on track to become a member of the coveted Chairman’s Club – a status reserved for agents who gross more than $1.25 million in commission over the course of a year.
Her success was so instant, by her third and fourth months operating as Ray White, Helen achieved $23 million and $25 million is sales, respectively. That volume has continued ever since.
“I average 10 sales a month, and the homes I sell – on average – achieve around $4 million, sometimes more. Just last month I set a new record for a North Balwyn sale for just shy of $6 million,” she said.
As her personal business grows, so too does her overall business. Starting with just three team members when her door opened in August 2016, Helen now has more than 20 staff.
“Our sales agents are all seeing their own individual growth. Our whole team is striving to become better everyday.”
Reflecting on her early success, Helen said the support from the Ray White corporate team was invaluable, particularly the role of the profit team.
“Every time we’ve employed someone new, the Ray White profit team have helped me run the numbers to ensure our business profitability is always at its best. Without that support, I wouldn’t know what to do,” Helen said.
As one of the industry’s most awarded agents, Helen is more determined than ever to improve.
“There were a few months when I was changing brands where I wasn’t selling so I am very happy with how successful we have been. Now, it’s just about getting better and better,” she said.
