“We were all set to sign up with an agent from a 1% company when a friend recommended Karen Ellis. At first we dismissed the recommendation as the agent we were planning on listing with had the listing for our new home that we were trying to purchase. Like many we also had a set price in mind that we needed to walk away from the sale of our home. We had decided any agents commission would need to be on top of that. We had the mindset “the higher commission the less we would get”. We couldn’t see it selling at a price that would meet both our needs at the standard commission structure either. However I promised my friend I would at least speak with Karen so we did. We could see why our friends had recommended her. We were instantly comfortable with her and able to be up front about why we were considering the 1% agent. Regardless of this Karen was very informative, helpful and not pushy in anyway. The thing we also really respected was that she didn’t make any false promises about the value of our home. It would have been very easy for here to give us an unrealistic price expectation to get us to sign up right then and there. We realised very quickly the issue with the 1% structure- there was a lack of communication, efficiency and time management in general. We could clearly tell we were very much just a number and there were a few times when we were spoken to completely inappropriately also. It wasn’t so much because we were offended by the other agents actions or lack of them; it was due to our genuine concern that potential purchasers of our home needed to be reassured and informed that the agent was there to help them get whatever information they needed to put their best offer forward. Karen and Barry have been totally committed to the sale our home; even after one collapsed sale. They saw it through right to the end. All offers were presented in such an efficient and timely manner which I now really understand the importance of.
