Once upon time there was a couple who lived in a quality apartment on the fringe of Central Wellington. From this wonderful location they were able to enjoy the best Wellington has to offer simply by walking out to the Opera, concert, exhibition or to stroll by the Quay and stop at a café (ah the coffees!). A decade on, they decided to move to their beach cottage up the Coast. Knowing the value of their apartment, they engaged Bayleys, paid for the considerable marketing and sat back to see the prospective buyers pour in. Duly they came, oo’ed and ah’d, loved the apartment, a few very interested, and would buy it if they could (if they sold their house in Mirimar, if their partner agreed, if the bank would provide the money). The stream became a trickle and five months later the lovely apartment had not sold. It was agreed that the Wellington market was dormant, if not dead. Clearly a fresh approach was necessary. At this stage they contacted the Wellington Manager of Remax, asking not for an ordinary agent, but for their special agent (their 007, so to speak), one who could sell a quality apartment at, or better, above the market price and actually sell it in the current sluggish market. Curiously, the manager did not hesitate. Enter Colin Kelly. As soon a Colin took over the whole game changed. There was an immediate injection of purpose, energy and pace. Colin was positive, on the ball, lively and affable, in word completely professional. He kept them in touch with events and provided clear explanations of what was happening. What had been stressful seemed to become something like an adventure, almost fun. The couple were looking at each other saying, ‘we are going to sell this apartment, this guy really knows what this business is about’. More, Colin had a cunning plan!
