Bringing Chinese influence to the Hobart property market
Ray White Southern Tasmania are working to introduce more Chinese investors to the Hobart real estate market, bringing on board mandarin speaking employees.
Yolanda Han and Danica Reeves have joined Ray White Southern Tasmania in the commercial and residential teams respectively.
“Yolanda is Chinese and Mandarin is her first language. Danica is Australian and is studying Mandarin as her second language. But their language skills aren’t the sole reason we’ve welcomed them into our business – they are both bright, enthusiastic and experienced professionals and we are thrilled to have them on board,” Ant Manton, Principal of Ray White Southern Tasmania said.
Danica joined the residential sales team on 1 November 2014 and has harboured a love of property since she was 19.
“I purchased my first home at just 19 years of age. Over the following nine year my passion for real estate has continued to grow,” she said.
Danica began her career with a major Hobart steel fabrication company, learning the craft of planning, design and working with local councils securing development approvals. Her real estate journey continued when she joined a real estate company to develop her skills within a property manager’s investment portfolio.
“After two years as a property manager I decided to move into the media industry as a media manager for a marketing firm. This experience was invaluable and I gained extensive knowledge and experience in marketing,” Danica explains.
Drawn back into property and spending almost another two years as a property manager, Danica gained her licence as a property consultant which led her to join the Ray White Southern Tasmania sales team.
Yolanda, a Chinese national, moved to Tasmania three years ago to explore new opportunities.
“After two years’ study at the University of Tasmania, I graduated with a Masters in Professional Accounting and I decided to stay in Hobart – I fell in love with the area, culture and most importantly, the gorgeous people in Tasmania,” Yolanda said.
With the rapid growth of the Chinese community in Hobart, Yolanda worked for the Tasmanian Chinese Business Association – the official organisation representing Chinese businesses in Tasmania which was established in August 2013.
Joining Ray White Southern Tasmania commercial team in December 2014, Yolanda says her goal is to connect with the local community.
“I believe real estate is not only about the properties – it’s about people. Real estate offers great opportunities to meet different people, and it is this which appeals to me the most.”
