In February 2011 the home my parents built in 1961 was made uninhabitable by the Christchurch earthquake and subsequent aitershocks. At nearly eighty years of age our mother relocated from her home of fifty years to rental accommodation in Nelson.The next few years were very stressful, as we waited for a decision from the lnsurers as to whether they would repair or replace our mother's home. ln February 2016 when the keys to her rebuilt home were finally handed to her we realised that her advancing years meant another move would not be in her best interests.The decision was made to put the property on the market.To minimise the stress on our mother we required a fast sale at a price that reflected market value. We were kept well updated throughout the three weeks from time of first listing until auction day . Beth had identified a potential buyer who was somewhat unsure of the auction process and unsure as to whether she would take part on the day.
