A slice of Venice in the heart of Perth
THERE’S a slice of Venice on the market now for the first time in the heart of Perth, with this luxury six bedroom sandstone home that comes complete with its own a grand canal.
This large private home on a corner site at 43 Barrett St, Wembley resembles a hotel or even a monastery.
Ray White City Residential Perth Principal Brent Compton said the house was built by a loving husband for his darling wife so she didn’t have to miss Venice or the island of Capri.
“This inner city trophy home is like nothing you have ever seen that gives you the feeling of being on holiday every day of your life,” Mr Compton said.
“This home boasts a massive 800sq m of internal living spread over four floors. There is simply nothing else like it in all of Perth.
“Glistening with Spanish marble, handmade Venetian Murano chandeliers and bespoke hand painted ceramic murals from Vietri Sul Mare.
“This is the time now for you to buy a marvel of Italian architecture just a stone’s throw from the centre of Perth.”
This remarkable residence was designed to cater for large or extended families living in luxury and harmony.
Owners Innocenzo Tizzano and his wife Sonya, both health professionals, designed and built the magnificent home 20 years ago using Spanish marble, Italian window dressings plus river gum floorboards and exposed outdoor Jarrah wooden beams.
“Follow your dreams is what I say. I wanted to live in Perth because I loved the weather and the water but I didn’t have anything that reminded me of home,” said Mr Tizzano who grew up on the Amalfi Coast and Venice.
“So I brought Capri and Venice to Perth. I created something that reminded me of home. I designed the house based on the stunning architecture of San Marco Square, the main piazza in Venice.
“My buyer is someone who will love architecture and who can appreciate this structural design that is beautiful when viewed from any angle inside and out.
“There is bevelled glass throughout the home which act as prisms in sunlight creating an interesting colour diffraction which also highlights the arched windows.”
“My buyer will be someone who is in love with his wife and wants to embrace romance and passion every day of the week without needing to go on a holiday,” he said.
“The house suits a large family or an extended family who can all live under one roof. There’s basically two houses, two kitchens and two laundries and our family of four children all loved this home with lots of space for friends too.”
Mrs Tizzano said the house was just like living in a hotel as it was so private and elegant at every turn.
“It’s like our own slice of Venice. We were married in Italy in 1996 in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast so everything in our house is from Italy, even down to the tassels on the curtains and all the hand-painted ceramic murals inside and out” she said.
“This house is perfectly located and having four active boys, it’s in the middle of all the major sporting precincts and the beach is only five minutes away. I even go to the city in 5 minutes on my Vespa.
“So if you are a mum, this is the ideal location for a busy lifestyle. From the moment you walk in the door the home welcomes you like a hotel!
“We are just at another stage in our lives as our children have now grown and we are looking to travel more and just don’t need as much space.”
